'Wom-poo' is the sound made by the beautifully coloured Wompoo fruit-dove, so listen and see if you can spot one. The Conway National Park covers 225 kilometres of lowland tropical rainforest and a number of walking trails on the Conway Circuit (previously the Whitsunday Great Walk) have been created. Follow an old logging road 2.4 kilometres through tall, lush rainforest. Turn left to reach a calm creek lined with Alexandra palms. This 7 kilometre return walk has a few steep sections, shallow creek crossings after rain, plentiful wildlife and will take you about four hours to complete. The walking track is shared with mountain-bike and Segway tours. Closed annually from 1 February to 31 March and also subject to seasonal closures. How to get there: Brandy Creek Road is located about half-way between Airlie Beach and Proserpine off Shute Harbour Road. Follow Brandy Creek Road to the Forestry Road carpark. What to take: please wear walking shoes and take drinking water, insect repellent, sunscreen and a hat. It's also a good idea to always let someone know where you are going when you head off into the Australian bush.
